Multi-cloud

Transformation to a multi-cloud strategy

The goal was to transform an on-premise infrastructure to modern flexible multi-cloud strategy.

As the sales numbers of the last 3 years have grown very fast, the IT architecture could not keep up with the growth of the company.

Management decided to change strategy, but did not want to become dependent on a single cloud provider, and therefore opted for a best-of-breed strategy.

Prices, requirements and interoperability

Hyperscalers’ pricing models are very complex, and a needs analysis is required to avoid inflated bills during operation.

In addition, the company processes sensitive customer data and wants to avoid unnecessary high complexity to be better protected against external cyberattacks and internal misconfigurations.

A needs analysis was conducted with the technical department, followed by a review of the offers by the purchasing department.

The result was pricing models, which in turn were reviewed by the technical department for interoperability between the hyperscalers.

In particular, the interoperability review showed that hyperscalers do not always adhere to technical standards.

Resulting code becomes unnecessarily complex and leads to the need to create another abstraction layer during implementation.

With a local co-location provider, a multi-cloud solution was found for the customer, giving him full control over sensitive parts of the infrastructure while taking advantage of large cloud providers.
